Complicated feelings about your blasé tree killing instincts

While he’s searching for the hat
That will complete his hallows eve costume
In between exchanging hellos with all of bridgeport’s finest
He notes with precision which trees will be subject to the ax.

It seems like just yesterday we were agreeing
To start a tree nursery at old 7 Trumbull Road
And today he’s discussing the guillotine like a French revolutionary
Planning the end of many half-hearted leaf bearers
